Parte Family Legacy

The Parte family's journey in music begins with Jaikumar Parte, born in 1932 in Kolhapur. A prodigious talent, young Jaikumar’s harmonium playing once captivated the legendary Prithviraj Kapoor, who—on hearing the music while passing by—stopped his car, entered the home, and was astonished to find a child playing with such brilliance. Deeply impressed, Kapoor facilitated the family’s move to Mumbai, where Jaikumar began working at Prithvi Theatre and soon transitioned into a freelance music composer.

His song “Mere Man Ke Man Sarovar Mein”, sung by Asha Bhosle, earned him the Swami Haridas Award, presented by Raj Kapoor. Jaikumar also worked closely with revered composers including Iqbal Qureshi, Sardar Malik, Usha Khanna, Mahesh-Naresh, Avinash Vyas, and Kalyanji-Anandji—arranging timeless tracks such as “Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas”, “Yeh Mera Dil”, and “Mere Desh Ki Dharti”.
